Dodgers Beat Cubs, 6-3
|
Behind the bravura of second baseman Jackie Robinson, the Los Angeles Dodgers topped the Chicago Cubs by the score of 6-3. Robinson was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for the Dodgers. The winning pitcher was Dazzy Vance. He tossed 110 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. The win gives Los Angeles a season record of 79-75.
Matt Kemp had a big 2-run double for the Dodgers in the top of the second inning. With Los Angeles leading 4-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Mordecai Brown, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in complete games with 6, and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dodgers ahead, 6-1.
Robinson told a Los Angeles Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
