The Oakland-Texas matchup turned into a real hit parade.

The 11-10 Oakland win over Texas was due in large part to Jimmie Foxx. The Athletics first baseman was 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Dennis Eckersley recorded the save, making him 46 for 50.

In the bottom of the sixth, Oakland pinch hitter Mark McGwire put his team on top. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit his 7th home run of the year. Texas pitcher Pete Richert served it up. Just like that, the Athletics were ahead, 9-7.

Texas manager said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score that many runs, you expect to win the game."

With the win, Oakland raised its record to 87-63.
