Phillies Beat Marlins, 4-1
|
The Philadelphia Phillies picked up a win at Citizens Bank Park, knocking off the Miami Marlins, 4-1. Starting pitcher Chris Short was a big reason why. Short, now 11-12, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The loss makes Miami 68-81.
Philadelphia got a lift in the bottom of the fourth from catcher Mike Lieberthal, who hit a fastball to center for a run-scoring double. His 9th double of the season put the Phillies up, 2-1.
Said losing manager : "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
