White Sox Hang 4-2 Loss on Twins
|
The Chicago White Sox picked up a win at U.S. Cellular Field, knocking off the Minnesota Twins, 4-2. Starting pitcher Doc White played a key role in the triumph. The winner was White. He threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Walter Johnson. Chicago is now 71-78.
Shoeless Joe Jackson had a big run-scoring triple for the White Sox in the bottom of the third inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Walter Johnson, who is tied for 6th in the AL in quality starts with 22, and swatted a triple to right. It was his 12th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the White Sox ahead, 2-0.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager .
