Giants Handle Los Angeles, Snag 5-1 Win
|
Joe McGinnity, who is tied for 5th in the NL in complete games with 5, was locked in. The right-hander led the San Francisco Giants to a 5-1 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers at AT&T Park. McGinnity, now 10-14, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. With the win, San Francisco has a record of 75-74. Los Angeles falls to 75-74.
Travis Jackson had a big 2-run home run for the Giants in the bottom of the first inning. With San Francisco leading 3-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from Dazzy Vance, who is tied for 4th in the NL in quality starts with 23, and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Giants on top, 5-0.
