Orioles Get Past New York for 5-4 Win
|
The Baltimore Orioles did just enough to sneak past the New York Yankees, 5-4, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Baltimore right fielder Frank Robinson, in particular, had a standout performance. Jack J Powell came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. Stu Miller closed out the game, earning his 25th save.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter George Sisler came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing New York pitcher Waite Hoyt, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Baltimore on top, 5-4.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Sisler.
With the win, the Orioles improved to 64-84.
