Rockies Stick Cardinals with 3-2 Loss
|
The Colorado Rockies racked up a win at Busch Stadium, bumping off the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-2. Mike Hampton, who started for Colorado, pitched effectively for his team. In 6.1 innings, Hampton surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. With the win over St. Louis, the Rockies improved to 54-93.
Todd Helton, who is tied for 7th in the NL with a .831 OPS, had a direct impact on the outcome. Helton contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Colorado up, 3-0.
"We were in it," said St. Louis manager . "We just didn't score enough runs."
