Rick Reuschel was masterful in helping the Chicago Cubs take down the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-1. Reuschel yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 10-14. The save went to Carlos Zambrano, his 1st this season.

In the bottom of the first, 29-year old catcher Gabby Hartnett hit a bases-clearing double. The 22nd double of the season for the Chicago catcher put the Cubs on top, 3-0.

The 'W' lifts Chicago's record to 76-67.
