Minnesota got a valiant performance from pitcher Firpo Marberry, but it wasn't enough to beat the Los Angeles Angels. Los Angeles won the game, 4-1. Marberry threw 8.1 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Los Angeles reliever Jordan Walden picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Firpo Marberry was tagged with the loss. Los Angeles occupies 4th place in the American League Western Division at 61-82.

Fred Lynn delivered a big hit for Los Angeles. The center fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Angels ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Lynn said. "That's how it goes."
