The Braves grabbed a win, 8-4, at Marlins Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Miami pitcher Kevin Brown. Brown went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Atlanta, at 80-63, holds down first place in the National League Eastern Division.

Atlanta used a timely hit from Sam Jethroe to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Braves ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
