New York Jukes Past Kansas City, 4-3
|
No one was more impactful than Yogi Berra in the 4-3 New York win over Kansas City. Berra was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Mariano Rivera was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 40 of 46 save opportunities. The first-place Yankees have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
Berra had a timely hit for New York in the bottom of the eighth. With New York trailing 3-1, he turned a first pitch cutter into a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season, making it 4-3, New York.
Berra said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
