Boston pitcher Roger Clemens had a large part in his team beating the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Daniel Bard earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. The defeat makes Toronto 74-66.

Boston went in front, 4-2, on Carl Yastrzemski's 22nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Yastrzemski hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Toronto pitcher Doyle Alexander visibly perturbed.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Yastrzemski.
