Chicago catcher Geovany Soto picked up 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Milwaukee Brewers, 10-9, in 10 innings. The winner was Randy Myers in relief. His record improves to 4-4. Rollie Fingers took the loss. The third-place Cubs are 74-65.

The Cubs got a clutch hit from left fielder Billy Williams. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Cubs.

"Ugly win or not, we'll take it," said Williams.
