Royals Down Indians, 4-3
|
The Kansas City Royals picked up a win at Kauffman Stadium, knocking off the Cleveland Indians, 4-3. Starting pitcher Zack Greinke played a key role in the triumph. Greinke picked up the win for Kansas City, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 16-8. Jeff Montgomery recorded his 40th save for Kansas City.
The Royals got a big at-bat from third baseman Joe Randa. For the game, Randa was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Kansas City a 2-1 lead.
Greinke attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
