The Houston Astros overcame a pretty good performance by Texas left fielder Josh Hamilton, beating the Rangers, 9-3, at Minute Maid Park. Hamilton went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. The winning pitcher was Gerrit Cole. He's now 9-13. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits for the Astros. Frank DiPino was credited with the save for Houston, his 3rd of the season.

In the bottom of the 4th, Houston took the lead on a 2-run home run by Alex Bregman. At the time, the Astros were trailing 2-1, but Bregman's hit with two outs against Texas pitcher Matt Harrison put them in front, 3-2.
