Bob Feller pitched a gem to lead Cleveland to victory over the Chicago White Sox, 5-1. In 7.1 innings, Feller surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. The win elevated the Indians to 69-64.
Cleveland used a clutch at-bat from Rocky Colavito to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Indians ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Feller attributed the win to his team's "determination."
