Phillies Get 6th Straight Win with Late Rally
|
Atlanta got a terrific performance from pitcher Tom Glavine, but it wasn't enough to beat the Philadelphia Phillies. Philadelphia won the Citizens Bank Park contest, 4-2. Glavine threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Steve Carlton picked up the win in relief. John Smoltz took the loss for Atlanta. Erskine Mayer earned the save, his 4th, for the Phillies.
Lefty O'Doul contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a single. His at-bat helped Philadelphia get the win.
"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said O'Doul.
With the loss, Atlanta sinks to 7-7.
