Miami right fielder Giancarlo Stanton helped his team beat the Los Angeles Angels, 8-3. Stanton went 2 for 3 for the Marlins. Sandy Alcantara, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 9. His record now stands at 10-12. The Marlins, at 61-72, inhabit 4th place in the National League Eastern Division.
In the top of the sixth, the Marlins grabbed the lead when Stanton hit his 19th home run of the season. The 2-run home run off Brendan Donnelly made it 4-2, Miami.
Stanton told a Miami Herald reporter that the win made him feel "terrific."
