White Sox Pull Out Late Win, 3-2
Hurler Eddie Cicotte gave the Chicago White Sox a solid start. The native of Unknown helped his team defeat the Cleveland Indians, 3-2, at U.S. Cellular Field. Hoyt Wilhelm finished to wrap up his 30th save. The third-place White Sox hiked their record to 67-65.

Had Johnny Mostil not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Mostil hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the White Sox.

"I was a little disappointed," said Cleveland manager . "We could've and should've scored more runs."
