Blue Jays Fall to Boston, 7-2
|
Boston took on Toronto in front of a lively crowd.
With designated hitter Ted Williams leading the charge, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Toronto Blue Jays, 7-2, at Rogers Centre. Williams, who is tied for 5th in the AL with a .892 OPS, was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Boston raised its record to 70-61 with the win.
There was more than one reason the Red Sox beat the Blue Jays, but Williams's big at-bat in the top of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"We're going through a bad spell," said Toronto manager .
