The Los Angeles Angels got a sterling performance from pitcher Frank Tanana, but the Miami Marlins still prevailed, 6-4. Tanana threw 6.2 innings allowing 1 run. With the win, the Marlins improved to 60-71.

Miguel Cabrera delivered a big hit for Miami. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Marlins ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"No complaints from me," said Marlins manager . "I like what I saw out there."
