Brewers Take Nail-Biter Over Cardinals
|
The Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals needed extra innings at Miller Park to determine a winner.
The Milwaukee Brewers took Max Lanier's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Miller Park. The final score had Milwaukee getting past the Cardinals, 6-4, in 13 innings. Lanier over 6.1 innings allowed 4 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 4. Milwaukee reliever Derrick Turnbow picked up the win, while Jason Isringhausen took the loss for St. Louis.
Milwaukee got a clutch hit from B J Surhoff. The first baseman launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.
"That last inning was electric," Surhoff said.
The win gives Milwaukee a record of 8-5.
