The New York Yankees stopped the Chicago White Sox, 7-3, behind an impressive performance from Mickey Mantle. The 24-year old center fielder made life miserable for Chicago pitching. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times. With the win, New York goes to 79-50, while the White Sox fall to 65-65.
Joe Gordon, the New York second baseman, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 5-2, Yankees. For the game, Gordon went 1-3. He drove in 2 runs.
