Tigers Tuck Away 7-2 Win Over Minnesota
The Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins, 7-2, at Target Field. The win was due in part to center fielder Ty Cobb, who went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Denny McLain picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-15. He struck out 3 in 6.1 innings. Harry Coveleski earned the save, his 3rd in 3 tries.

Darrell Evans aided the Detroit cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman drove in one run.

"Good win for us," said Evans. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."

At 62-66, the Tigers find themselves in 4th place in the American League Central Division.
