Baltimore Reeling, as Skid Hits 8 Games
|
The Chicago Cubs picked up a win at Wrigley Field, topping the Baltimore Orioles, 6-3. On the mound for Chicago was right-hander Mordecai Brown. He played a principal role in the triumph. Brown yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 11-8. Earning his 8th save for Chicago was Randy Myers.
Anthony Rizzo went 1-2 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Chicago. The 26-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mike Mussina. It was his 63rd RBI of the season.
"It's a humbling game and right now we're being humbled in a lot of different areas," said Baltimore manager .
The Cubs improved their record to 68-61 by beating Baltimore.
