Baltimore Loses Again, 6-3
|
The Chicago White Sox picked up a win at U.S. Cellular Field, dropping the Baltimore Orioles, 6-3. Eddie Cicotte, who leads the AL in complete games with 6, was the difference-maker. The winner was Cicotte. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Jim Palmer. Picking up the save was Hoyt Wilhelm, his 27th.
Eddie Collins Sr was 1 for 3 with a walk for Chicago. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jim Palmer. It was his 23rd RBI of the season.
Baltimore manager said: "Over the course of the season, you're going to have little ruts where you're not getting the breaks and when you're not playing well. This is one of them."
Chicago is now 64-64.
