Padres Solve Los Angeles in Extra Innings
The San Diego Padres knocked off the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7-3, in 11 innings at Dodger Stadium. Phil Nevin hit 2 singles and 2 doubles, while driving in 4 runs. San Diego reliever Trevor Hoffman got the win, raising his record to 5-4. Eric Gagne was tagged with the loss. The first-place Padres bumped their record to 74-50.

Nevin had a game-changing double in the top of the 11th. On a 1-0 curveball from Takashi Saito, he banged a 2-run double to right, giving the Padres a 5-3 lead. It was the 8th double of the year for Nevin.
