Mariners Collect 8-5 Win Versus Philadelphia
Though he had a terrific game, Scott Rolen could not prevent his team, the Philadelphia Phillies, from absorbing a loss. Seattle won the game, 8-5. Rolen went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Seattle now owns a record of 71-54.

Alvin Davis had a big 2-run double for the Mariners in the top of the first inning. With Seattle leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Ron Reed and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mariners ahead, 5-0.

Davis called the triumph "a good team win."
