It took 11 innings, but the Seattle Mariners were able to beat the Detroit Tigers, 5-4, at Comerica Tigers Park. Julio Rodriguez provided some offensive muscle for Seattle. He was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Mike Schooler was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 4 save opportunities. The win makes Seattle 70-53.

Alex Rodriguez had a big 2-run home run for the Mariners in the top of the fifth inning. With Seattle trailing 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Jack Morris and swatted a home run to right. It was his 28th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mariners ahead, 4-3.

"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Rodriguez.
