The Cleveland Indians had to weather a strong performance from Baltimore pitcher Urban Shocker before claiming a 3-2 win in 10 innings. Shocker went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Cleveland has run its win streak to 6 consecutive.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Cleveland catcher John Romano, facing B J Ryan, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Indians the 3-2 win.
"Took some scratching and clawing," said Romano. "But we got it done."
