The Milwaukee Brewers, despite a fine performance by Los Angeles pitcher Don Sutton, grabbed a 3-2 win at Dodger Stadium. Sutton allowed no runs over 7 innings. Teddy Higuera earned the win, while 37-year old right-handed pitcher Takashi Saito took the loss for Los Angeles. Milwaukee has won 4 straight, while Los Angeles has lost 3 in a row.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 28-year old center fielder Carlos Gomez. Gomez had a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Brewers ahead, 2-0. For the game, Gomez had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Gomez told reporters after the game.
