Edmonds Launches 2 Dingers, But Texas Wins
The Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers delighted fans at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

The inspired effort of Los Angeles designated hitter Jim Edmonds was not enough to prevent a loss, 8-6, to the Texas Rangers. Edmonds was 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Nolan Ryan got the win, improving to 4-10. He worked 7.1 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 6. Jeff Russell converted his 24th save in 31 tries.

Rusty Greer hit a grand slam home run off Frank Tanana in the bottom of the second, which put the Rangers ahead, 4-2. In addition to the homer, Greer had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

Greer told a Texas Today reporter that he was "delighted" with the win.

The Rangers now have a mark of 52-70.
