Wells Delivers 3-1 Win
|
Starting pitcher David Wells was a major factor in the 3-1 Toronto Blue Jays triumph over the Seattle Mariners. Toronto, at 68-54, occupies second place in the American League Eastern Division.
Wells earned the win, going 7.1 strong innings for Toronto. The left-hander allowed just 1 hit, while striking out 9. Seattle hitters had little success against him.
"I just try to put up zeroes," said Wells, "and let the rest take care of itself."
