Giants Beaten, 4-2, by Chicago
|
Chicago White Sox starter Ed Walsh found his groove in his team's 4-2 win over the San Francisco Giants. Hoyt Wilhelm converted his 25th save in 29 tries. The 4th-place White Sox bumped their record to 58-63.
Chicago went up, 4-1, on Frank E Thomas's 14th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Thomas hit in the top of the eighth, left San Francisco pitcher Sergio Romo stewing.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Thomas told the Chicago Gazette.
