The Los Angeles Angels downed the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-6, in 10 innings at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Mike Napoli led the way, going 2-for-3 for Los Angeles. Los Angeles reliever Francisco Rodriguez picked up the win to move to 5-3. Erskine Mayer suffered the loss. With the win, Los Angeles goes to 50-69, while the Phillies fall to 65-55.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Los Angeles. That's when 28-year old catcher Brian Downing hit a run-scoring double off Erskine Mayer to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"Games like this is what baseball's all about," said Angels manager .
