Orioles Turn Back Yankees, 4-2
|
Baltimore Orioles starter Urban Shocker pitched a strong game against the New York Yankees at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, leading the Orioles to victory, 4-2. Shocker, now 6-12, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Orioles saw their record improve to 52-66.
Brooks Robinson dealt the Yankees a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Baltimore leading 2-1, Robinson hit a 1-2 curveball for a run-scoring single.
Robinson told a Baltimore Chronicle reporter that the win made him feel "terrific."
