The San Francisco Giants picked up a win at Kauffman Stadium, knocking off the Kansas City Royals, 3-2. Starting pitcher Joe McGinnity played a key role in the triumph. Brian Wilson collected his 5th save. The Giants now own a record of 63-56.

San Francisco used a well-timed hit by Mel Ott to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Giants ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Tip of the cap to the Giants," said Kansas City manager . "They played a good game."
