Cincinnati right-hander Mario Soto pitched his team to victory over the Miami Marlins at Great American Ball Park. The final score was 2-1. The winner was Soto. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Sandy Alcantara. Rob Dibble notched his 20th save of the season.
The Reds got a big hit from catcher Bubbles Hargrave. Facing Miami pitcher Sandy Alcantara in the bottom of the fifth, Hargrave pounded a run-scoring double to right. His 2nd double of the season put the Reds ahead, 2-0.
"Do what you're good at," said Cincinnati manager . "That's all I ask of the team."
Cincinnati is now 58-60, while Miami is 52-66.
