Seattle got a valiant performance from pitcher Randy D Johnson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chicago White Sox. Chicago won the game, 11-2. Johnson threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. The setback makes Seattle 66-51.

Chicago used the clutch hitting of Shoeless Joe Jackson to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to give the White Sox the lead, 4-2. For the game, Jackson had 1 single and 2 doubles in 5 at-bats.

"Not much went right for us," Seattle manager said, when asked afterward about the game.
