Chicago registered a win at Safeco Field by beating the Seattle Mariners, 7-1. Pitcher Eddie Cicotte was one reason why the White Sox triumphed. The White Sox are now 56-63, while the Mariners fall to 66-50.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Minnie Minoso came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Seattle pitcher Erik Hanson, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Chicago on top, 2-1.

"I didn't want to let them take the game from my hands," said Cicotte.
