With 3-2 Win, Mariners Go to 66-49
The Seattle Mariners did just enough to sneak past the Chicago White Sox, 3-2, at Safeco Field. Seattle pitcher Jamie Moyer, in particular, had a standout performance. Seattle reliever J J Putz picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Red Faber absorbed the loss. Mike Schooler nailed down his 3rd save.

Ichiro Suzuki went 1 for 3 for Seattle. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Suzuki, who is tied for 2nd in the AL in stolen bases with 49, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Chicago hurler Red Faber, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Mariners a 3-2 lead.

"It's always extra special to win at home," said Moyer.

At 66-49, the Mariners claim first place in the American League Western Division.
