Carlos Gonzalez was instrumental in his team's 8-5 triumph over the Chicago Cubs. The left fielder was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Colorado Rockies. Huston Street earned the save for Colorado, his 19th of the year. With the win, the Rockies are 39-74.

With Colorado leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Gonzalez hit a screwball from Clark Griffith for a 3-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Rockies ahead, 5-1.

"When the ball finds the sweet spot," said Gonzalez, "I can't complain."
