The 6-5 New York win over San Francisco was due largely to Mike Piazza. The Mets catcher belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The Giants, at 59-54, have lost 8 in a row.

David Wright was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mets third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
