The Detroit Tigers and Colorado Rockies squared off at Comerica Tigers Park.

The Detroit Tigers defeated the Colorado Rockies, 6-4, at Comerica Tigers Park. Detroit was led by 24-year old center fielder Ty Cobb, who went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was Jack Morris. He's now 7-8. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits for the Tigers.

There was more than one reason the Tigers beat the Rockies, but Cobb's big at-bat in the bottom of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Cobb told the Detroit News.

The Tigers raised their record to 53-56.
