New York Earns 6-5 Win
|
The New York Mets topped the San Francisco Giants, 6-5, in National League action at Citi Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of New York pitcher David Cone. New York reliever John Franco picked up the win, upping his record to 3-4. Gary Lavelle took the loss. The Mets go to 60-49, putting them second in the National League Eastern Division.
Jeff McNeil was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mets second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," McNeil said.
