The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Seattle Mariners, 10-6, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Leading the charge for Baltimore was left fielder Ken Williams. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Baltimore reliever Tim Stoddard snagged the win, upping his record to 4-2. Mike Schooler shouldered the loss. The 4th-place Orioles bumped their record to 48-61.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter George R Stone came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Seattle pitcher Mike Schooler, he hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Baltimore on top, 8-6.

"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Williams.
