The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Washington Nationals, 9-2, at Nationals Park. John Kruk went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The 32-year old first baseman was a menace to Washington all day. Schoolboy Rowe closed the game out for Philadelphia, earning his 1st save. The Phillies improved their record to 60-50 with the win over Washington.

The Phillies extended their lead in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, Chuck Klein grounded out, driving in 1 run to make it 2-0, Philadelphia.

"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Kruk.
