Minnesota starter Walter Johnson pitched well against the Kansas City Royals at Target Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3, in 12 innings. The winner in relief was Al Worthington. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. The Royals drop to 4-7 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2014 season.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the 12th for Minnesota. That's when Chuck Knoblauch hit a run-scoring double off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Joakim Soria to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
