Orioles 3-0 Losers to Angels
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Los Angeles Angels and the Baltimore Orioles, pitcher Dean Chance was the difference between victory and defeat. The Los Angeles right-hander earned kudos in the 3-0 Angels win. Chance got the win, improving to 6-11. He gave up 5 hits and walked 4 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. Francisco Rodriguez got credit for the save for Los Angeles. It was his 5th of the year.
Jim Edmonds had a big solo home run for the Angels in the top of the sixth inning. With Los Angeles leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Mussina and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Angels on top, 2-0.
"Dean threw the ball very, very well," said Los Angeles manager .
Los Angeles now sits at 43-64, while Baltimore falls to 47-60.
