The Milwaukee Brewers had no problem beating the Tampa Bay Rays, 12-1, at Tropicana Field. Carlos Gomez led the way. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for Milwaukee. Mike Caldwell was the winner. Over 8.2 innings, he yielded 1 run on 7 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts. The Brewers bumped their record to 60-48 with this win.

Jeromy Burnitz had a big 2-run home run for the Brewers in the top of the second inning. With Milwaukee leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Matt Garza, who is tied for 10th in the AL with a 8.1 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Brewers on top, 3-0.
